Originaly from Orlando, Florida, Jimi Merlo a.k.a JimiTheGenius started mixing Miami Bass and Breaks in early 1996. In the summer of 1998, he packed his bags and headed to South Florida to be closer to the home of the sound he loved so much. On his arrival, he quickly teamed up with Quantum Records and 305 Metrix and his DJ/Production career was on its way.

In March of 2003, his first record release " Identifi " was released on Tekmind.com. With its pounding bass and futuristic soundscapes, "Identifi " soon became a record that anyone who plays any form of broken beat music had to have in his or her record bag. Later in 2003, Jimi joined forces with his good friend Ash-Rock and formed the Electro Bass group, Hydraulix . It wasn't long before the duo completed what was to be the first 12” release for Kuad Recordings, the much sought after “Hydraulix E.P.”.

With his dark melodies and bone crushing electro beats, JimiTheGenius has quickly become a world wide favorite for those “in the know”. His mixing skills combined with a slew of new Hydraulix tracks set for release on Kuad Recordings can only ensure that his fan base will grow by leaps and bounds in the near future.
