Rick Zarate a.k.a Ash-Rock has been one of the most consistent forces in the South Florida scene in last 5-6 years. He started playing Hip Hop in the early 90's, but by the time he reached high school, electronic music had become his main focus. Being highly influenced by the "Miami Bass" sound, it was not a surprise that he choose the Electro/Breaks sound as his weapon of choice.

By playing out at the now infamous Culture Production parties as a resident alongside Merlyn, R-Fresh, and tons of big name DJ's, he sharpened his skills to the point of perfection.

His journey into music production began with him under the guidance of breaks Don's, Jasp 182 (Insomniac Records) and Merlyn (Dreamscape Recordings), but it wasn't long before his production skills were on an equal level with both of his teachers.

These days Ash-Rock can be caught playing solo, or as tag-team act with his partner Jimi The Genius. Together known as "Hydraulix", the duo has quickly become a world wide favorite. If you have a chance to catch one of his sets (as Hydraulix or solo), don't hesitate because he won't disappoint.
